Kim HyunJoong performed his follow-up song 'Kiss Kiss' on 14th of July in the Mnet broadcast 'M!Countdown'.
'Kiss Kiss' is a song that suits well with the warm summer for it's a light rhythm's pop dance song. Furthermore, through the sweet lyrics of the song, it conveyed Kim HyunJoong's heart towards the fans, spurring warm reactions from the fans. He returned to the scene recently, and released his very first mini album ‘Let It Go’ as a solo singer, not only has he changed his image, he also sang songs which are of different genre from the past, bringing a whole new image to his fans. Our reporter in Korea, Michelle, had a private interview with him, giving everyone the most updated news about Heo YoungSaeng.
Q1. How do you feel after starting your activities as a solo singer? What are the differences as compared to when you have group activities as SS501?
A : In the beginning, I was very happy to see my own name ‘Heo YoungSaeng’ being printed on the album. However, since I’m not having activities with 5 members like during SS501 times, I have to handle everything on my own, naturally I have to undertake all the stress, so it is more tiring as compared to before, I feel like I am walking with difficulties alone.
Q2. Please introduce your album to Taiwan fans, and tell us which is your favorite song?
A : Overall, this album gives off the feeling of ‘Transformation of image’, I hope to give fans a whole new Heo YoungSaeng. Personally, I like ‘Out The Club’ from this album, because I like the title of this song very much, it is also the song that I likes to sing.
Q3. If you have a chance, do you wish to have a concert in Taiwan? If you are here on holliday, where would you like to go most? What would you like to eat most?
A : If I had a chance, I hope that I can have a concert in Taiwan, I really hope so! I sang mostly ballad songs during the concert in Taiwan last time. As compared to the other members of SS501 who sing more lively and energetic songs, I usually sing ballad songs, which seems like it is not being favored by fans as much. Next time when I go to Taiwan for concert, I will sing more energetic and rock songs, so I hope I can intergrate into the audience and play together with them. As to what I want to eat? I remember when I went to Taiwan as SS501, I ate steamed dimsum, drank bubble tea. If I go Taiwan again, I hope to eat more local delicacies, I am curious why Taiwan’s food culture is so rich? Because when I ate Chinese food in America, I feel that their cooking method is different, seems like the good in Taiwan are more delicious. I hope to go to Taiwan to find out the answer. If time permits, I want to find a place to relax, to take a good rest, eat some delicious food, and buy some things that I like.
Q4. Have you thought about acting in movies or dramas? What type of movie/drama and what roles do you want to act in?
A : I really want to act as the Hallyu star in drama ‘Secret Garden’, ‘Mischievous Kiss’ is also very interesting, it would have feel good to act in such interesting dramas. I also want to try to interesting roles like Nishikado or Domyozi in ‘Hana Yori Dango’. If I have a chance, I wish to act in Taiwanese dramas too.

A : Haha! I overcome stresses by eating spicy food, because I will perspire a lot after eating these spicy food, so the heat from the body will also be eliminated and have more vitality, thus having a feeling of overcoming the stresses. Kyu Jong: Today is the day we set off to Japan. Is the day I start on my first musical challenge in Japan. Other than that, it’s also the 6th year anniversary of our debut as SS501 members. Today is such a meaningful day for me. Arriving at Kyoto via Osaka, we head over to the theatre to check on the sound system and stage. Why am I shivering… If I were to put it into words, I’m now feeling really odd about this. This isn’t the stage that I’ve always been working on, but a brand new stage? But seeing the Minamiza theatre with my own eyes is really great! Looking at the audience from the stage, I can feel the heat in me and also feels fortunate at the same time. The first day here, I’m already looking forward to working in Kyoto.
9 June (Thursday)
Kyu Jong: Not sure if it’s because it will be my first show soon, I’m not able to sleep well, lying and turning around on my bed for the whole night. To be honest, I still have a very long way to go. I’m also thought about being the main lead for my first attempt in musical, can I do well? Been thinking about all these. But there’s always the team & cast, who have been supporting and giving me energy. Because of them, I have got energy. When rehearsal starts, I was looking at Run-hyung’s rehearsal. Maybe because I’m only familiar with dancing and singing during rehearsal, so I’m still very new to this. Where to walk, costume, sound systems, have to check all of it one by one. After getting used to the stage, I felt more relax. How should I put it, when standing on the stage, I can feel that I’m alive. Feels very relax and fortunate. It feels really good to be able to stand on such a wonderful stage. Many people will come to watch our show tomorrow right? Yes, I’ll definitely need to prepare myself well! After rehearsal, drank nice citron tea to soothe my throat from all the rehearsal, I lied on the bed. Now my heart is also drumming, all my nerves are working towards the stage.

Kyu Jong: Raining morning. Got waken up by the rain. 8am! Used to sleeping late and waking up late in Korea. I’m not used to waking up this early. Finally, it’s tomorrow. Looks like it’s still not time yet, but yet tomorrow is already our first show. So, for our last rehearsal! For the last round of check, every staff and cast members gathered on the stage. Starting our final rehearsal feeling really nervous! For everyone, for ourselves, for the show, I will work hard. Because it’s a stage like this, so I felt that I have to work even harder. Kyu Jong: Open my eyes, thinking. Thankful, thank you. Really thankful to be able to welcome such an important day. First stage! Was so nervous that I don’t even feel hungry for not eating anything. After makeup, hair styling, putting on the costume, this finally felt real. At the backstage, team congratulated the few of us on our musical debut, shouting “Goong Fighting!” together. Knowing that all the audience have already been seated 5 minutes before the show starts, my heard starts drumming again. “So, I’m Prince Lee Shin. The Prince Lee Shin that no one will be able to do anything to me.” With this determination, I got ready to go on stage. Finally, the bell rang, show starts. Musical debut stage! The moment when I stand on the stage with lights and audience cheers shining on to me, how will it feel like. So, I’m not Kim Kyu Jong, but I stood on stage as Prince Lee Shin, and completed my first 2 hours and 30 minutes debut show. During ending, everyone sang together. Really, I just teared. This is an unforgettable debut performance.
Thankful, thank you. Audience who flood the theatre to watch our performance, also people who help make this wonderful show, and many who have worked hard for us, I’m sorry that other than Thank You, I don’t know what else to say, I will do my best till my last stage.

Kim Hyun Joong swept first ranking in all music charts throughout Asia with his new song “Break Down.”
The song ranked no. 1 in Japanese Oricon Chart on June 8, as well as in several Taiwanese music charts, and in KKBOX of Hong Kong. Particularly in Hong Kong, Kim’s other songs, “Please” and “Kiss Kiss,” also placed in higher ranking.

The popularity of the solo singer Kim HyunJoong is spreading across all Asia.
Kim HyunJoong have released his first solo mini album 'Break Down' in June. Within 2 weeks of the album released, 100,000 copies of the album have been cleared out. His title track in the album, Break Down, have dominated various music charts for the 1st place alongside with other songs in the album like 'Please' & 'Kiss Kiss'.

Q1. How do you feel after starting your activities as a solo singer? What are the differences as compared to when you have group activities as SS501?
A : In the beginning, I was very happy to see my own name ‘Heo YoungSaeng’ being printed on the album. However, since I’m not having activities with 5 members like during SS501 times, I have to handle everything on my own, naturally I have to undertake all the stress, so it is more tiring as compared to before, I feel like I am walking with difficulties alone.
Q2. Please introduce your album to Taiwan fans, and tell us which is your favorite song?
A : Overall, this album gives off the feeling of ‘Transformation of image’, I hope to give fans a whole new Heo YoungSaeng. Personally, I like ‘Out The Club’ from this album, because I like the title of this song very much, it is also the song that I likes to sing.
Q3. If you have a chance, do you wish to have a concert in Taiwan? If you are here on holliday, where would you like to go most? What would you like to eat most?
A : If I had a chance, I hope that I can have a concert in Taiwan, I really hope so! I sang mostly ballad songs during the concert in Taiwan last time. As compared to the other members of SS501 who sing more lively and energetic songs, I usually sing ballad songs, which seems like it is not being favored by fans as much. Next time when I go to Taiwan for concert, I will sing more energetic and rock songs, so I hope I can intergrate into the audience and play together with them. As to what I want to eat? I remember when I went to Taiwan as SS501, I ate steamed dimsum, drank bubble tea. If I go Taiwan again, I hope to eat more local delicacies, I am curious why Taiwan’s food culture is so rich? Because when I ate Chinese food in America, I feel that their cooking method is different, seems like the good in Taiwan are more delicious. I hope to go to Taiwan to find out the answer. If time permits, I want to find a place to relax, to take a good rest, eat some delicious food, and buy some things that I like.
Q4. Have you thought about acting in movies or dramas? What type of movie/drama and what roles do you want to act in?
A : I really want to act as the Hallyu star in drama ‘Secret Garden’, ‘Mischievous Kiss’ is also very interesting, it would have feel good to act in such interesting dramas. I also want to try to interesting roles like Nishikado or Domyozi in ‘Hana Yori Dango’. If I have a chance, I wish to act in Taiwanese dramas too.

8 June (Wednesday)
Kyu Jong: Today is the day we set off to Japan. Is the day I start on my first musical challenge in Japan. Other than that, it’s also the 6th year anniversary of our debut as SS501 members. Today is such a meaningful day for me. Arriving at Kyoto via Osaka, we head over to the theatre to check on the sound system and stage. Why am I shivering… If I were to put it into words, I’m now feeling really odd about this. This isn’t the stage that I’ve always been working on, but a brand new stage? But seeing the Minamiza theatre with my own eyes is really great! Looking at the audience from the stage, I can feel the heat in me and also feels fortunate at the same time. The first day here, I’m already looking forward to working in Kyoto.
9 June (Thursday)
Kyu Jong: Not sure if it’s because it will be my first show soon, I’m not able to sleep well, lying and turning around on my bed for the whole night. To be honest, I still have a very long way to go. I’m also thought about being the main lead for my first attempt in musical, can I do well? Been thinking about all these. But there’s always the team & cast, who have been supporting and giving me energy. Because of them, I have got energy. When rehearsal starts, I was looking at Run-hyung’s rehearsal. Maybe because I’m only familiar with dancing and singing during rehearsal, so I’m still very new to this. Where to walk, costume, sound systems, have to check all of it one by one. After getting used to the stage, I felt more relax. How should I put it, when standing on the stage, I can feel that I’m alive. Feels very relax and fortunate. It feels really good to be able to stand on such a wonderful stage. Many people will come to watch our show tomorrow right? Yes, I’ll definitely need to prepare myself well! After rehearsal, drank nice citron tea to soothe my throat from all the rehearsal, I lied on the bed. Now my heart is also drumming, all my nerves are working towards the stage.
10 June (Friday)
Kyu Jong: Raining morning. Got waken up by the rain. 8am! Used to sleeping late and waking up late in Korea. I’m not used to waking up this early. Finally, it’s tomorrow. Looks like it’s still not time yet, but yet tomorrow is already our first show. So, for our last rehearsal! For the last round of check, every staff and cast members gathered on the stage. Starting our final rehearsal feeling really nervous! For everyone, for ourselves, for the show, I will work hard. Because it’s a stage like this, so I felt that I have to work even harder. Tomorrow, our Goong! Goong Goong Fighting! Fight Goong! Must have a good dream tonight!
11 June (Saturday)
Kyu Jong: Open my eyes, thinking. Thankful, thank you. Really thankful to be able to welcome such an important day. First stage! Was so nervous that I don’t even feel hungry for not eating anything. After makeup, hair styling, putting on the costume, this finally felt real. At the backstage, team congratulated the few of us on our musical debut, shouting “Goong Fighting!” together. Knowing that all the audience have already been seated 5 minutes before the show starts, my heard starts drumming again. “So, I’m Prince Lee Shin. The Prince Lee Shin that no one will be able to do anything to me.” With this determination, I got ready to go on stage. Finally, the bell rang, show starts. Musical debut stage! The moment when I stand on the stage with lights and audience cheers shining on to me, how will it feel like. So, I’m not Kim Kyu Jong, but I stood on stage as Prince Lee Shin, and completed my first 2 hours and 30 minutes debut show. During ending, everyone sang together. Really, I just teared. This is an unforgettable debut performance.
Thankful, thank you. Audience who flood the theatre to watch our performance, also people who help make this wonderful show, and many who have worked hard for us, I’m sorry that other than Thank You, I don’t know what else to say, I will do my best till my last stage.

Kim Hyun Joong swept first ranking in all music charts throughout Asia with his new song “Break Down.”
The song ranked no. 1 in Japanese Oricon Chart on June 8, as well as in several Taiwanese music charts, and in KKBOX of Hong Kong. Particularly in Hong Kong, Kim’s other songs, “Please” and “Kiss Kiss,” also placed in higher ranking.
In Thailand, “Break Down” took second in Chanel V’s Asia music chart and also earned the title “The Best Asian Pop Music of July.”
In addition, the song has gained popularity in Bolivia and Germany. In Bolivia, “Break Down” ranked at the top of the K-Pop music chart in June and July, and “Please” ranked fifth in K-pop chart in Germany.

The popularity of the solo singer Kim HyunJoong is spreading across all Asia.
Kim HyunJoong have released his first solo mini album 'Break Down' in June. Within 2 weeks of the album released, 100,000 copies of the album have been cleared out. His title track in the album, Break Down, have dominated various music charts for the 1st place alongside with other songs in the album like 'Please' & 'Kiss Kiss'.

Kim Hyun Joong joined Ock Ju Hyun as a guest on her radio program, KBS’s “Ock Ju Hyun’s Music Square”, where he proudly shared his love for the free-sample kiosks at markets. Kim Hyun Joong revealed that, “If there aren’t any meat left at the free-sample stand, I ask the worker to cook more.”
He continued, “I still purchase the product after I try it, though,” bringing laughter to the studio.
